Critic Reviews
93 points, Owen Bargreen
"The 2022 Southern Right comes from this stony, low yielding site in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. This is beautifully textured and is best served slightly on the warmer side to take in the outstanding range of flavors. Pink grapefruit zest, kiwi, gooseberry and stony minerals all come together on the palate. A stunning new wine, this is drinking marvelously now and will continue to cellar well based on its combination of weight and finesse"

90 points, Wine Spectator
"Fresh and focused, offering flavors of pink grapefruit granita, lime zest, pickled ginger and graphite. The well-spiced, salty finish is driven by sleek acidity. Drink now. 14,500 cases made, 6,200 cases imported."

About The Winery
Southern Right is a small Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc specialist located on a strikingly beautiful 448 ha property in the cool, maritime, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley appellation, just behind the old fishing village of Hermanus. Founded by Anthony Hamilton Russell in 1994, Southern Right's aim was to produce a serious, age-worthy Pinotage (South Africa’s unique red grape variety) combining a distinct South African fruit and flavour expression with classic styling and refinement. The Southern Right Sauvignon blanc remains a local and international best-seller and has been listed as one of South Africa’s best wine values more than 5 times in the Wine Spectator. The wines are named after the rare Southern Right whales, which frequent the cool South Atlantic Walker Bay, two miles from the vineyards. With each bottle sold, Southern Right makes a contribution to their conservation.
