Critic Reviews

“Hamilton Russell conquered the Chardonnay crown in his native South Africa, so he expanded to try his hand at Oregon; this is a lovely wine, smooth, deep with ripe pear fruit and toasty nuances, elegant and classic, essentially what you’d expect from this talented winemaker.”

“Smooth and toasty, with a buttery mouthfeel and a satiny finish. This is polished to a fine luster, blending apple and pear fruit with a creamy coating of, yes, butter. It’s a style with wide appeal, and the acidity supports it nicely, but don’t look for the sort of zippy citrus you’ll find in many high-end Oregon Chardonnays.”

About The Winery
Hamilton Russell Vineyards in South Africa developed an international reputation over 40 vintages for unusually restrained, classically styled Pinot Noir, with deep structure and spice balancing fruit opulence. Hamilton Russell Oregon aims to express this stylistic philosophy with the very best Willamette Valley fruit - showcasing the restrained classicism of great European Pinot Noir and the bright purity of Oregon fruit. In 2020, with the release of two site-specific Hamilton Russell Oregon Pinot Noirs from the applauded Eola Amity Hills and Ribbon Ridge appellations, Anthony and Olive Hamilton Russell expanded their reach to the frontier of Burgundian-style winemaking in the New World. While the Hamilton Russell team brings with them years of experience and know-how to the burgeoning Oregon wine industry, they see their Oregon project as a great learning opportunity, which should ultimately inform the quality and styling of all their wines.
