Critic Reviews
94 points, Blue Lifestyle
“Deep ruby color, smooth and silky with impressive cherry and raspberry fruit, bright and seductive but with depth and elegance, tangy and long.”

93 points, Decanter
“Interesting, engaging and wild aromas of dark fruits, roasted herbs and leather. Characterful on the palate with an attractive structure and lot of energy. Drink 2021-2022.”

91 points, Wine & Spirits
“This grows in Maule’s coastal hills, southeast of the port city of Constitución, at a 911-acre estate the Torres family purchased in 2003 for its slate soils, similar to those they farm in Priorat. After building terraces in the slate, they found that the varieties that thrive in Priorat were not well suited to the climate, and so turned their attention to pinot noir. The local birds appreciated the offerings, consuming three vintages before the vines were covered under individual nets. In 2015, those vines produced a concentrated and powerful wine, layering flavors of black cherry, black currant and herbs over smoky mineral tones. The flavors show more depth than complexity, showing the potential of the site; the complexities should develop in future vintages as the vines mature and their roots explore deeper into the rock. Meanwhile, this wine is substantial, ready to enjoy alongside steak with chimichurri.”

About The Winery
Familia Torres, a renowned winemaking family with roots in Spain, has been producing wines for 151 years over 5 generations. Admired and inspiring, Familia Torres seamlessly unites tradition with innovation and follows a sustainable and innovative business model. As founding members of Primum Familiae Vini, a prestigious international association of world-class family-owned wineries, the family is closely connected to people and the land, and leads with energy, passion, and purpose. In 1979, Familia Torres arrived in Chile, marking an incontrovertible turning point in Chilean winemaking. Pioneers in the region, they were the first foreign winery to arrive in the country, kickstarting a new era in the quality of Chilean wines. Embracing the continued pursuit for unique and distinctive wines, Miguel Torres Chile has worked diligently to revive ancestral varieties like the País grape in order to craft identity-driven wines with a sense of history. Over the years, this quest has led to unprecedented wines such as Escaleras de Empedrado, the first Pinot Noir grown on slate soils in Chile, and Manso de Velasco, produced from vines more than 150 years old. An exemplary winery and leader in high-end Chilean wines, Miguel Torres Chile today is under the direction of owner Miguel Torres Maczassek and is built upon by three pillars: organic farming and sustainability, fair trade practices, and innovation.
