“A blockbuster dessert wine that offers plenty of Rancio character in its aromas of figs, burnt caramel, iodine and saltwater, the 1996 Tinta Negra is full-bodied, concentrated and decadent, yet also light on its feet and impeccably balanced. Bottled in 2017 with 135 grams of residual sugar, this awesome Madeira is perfect for pairing with appetizers, tapas, desserts, or just sipped on its own.”

‘The 1996 Miles Madeira is an utterly fantastic wine that has a very long life ahead of it. Layresed with its honey and toffee tones, this has great viscosity and length. Layers of buttercream and apricots with quince notes and shades of menthol all come together seamlessly in the glass. Formidable now at the twenty four year mark, this outstanding Madeira will cellar well for decades to come. Drink 2020-2040”

“Tinta Negra is a hybrid grape that takes on the characteristics of other Madeira grapes. To taste, this oak-aged wine could almost be a Bual. Smooth and rich, it has a sweet toffee and caramel character to go alongside the intense acidity. Drink now.”

About The Winery
The firm that was eventually to become Miles Madeira was originally known as Rutherford & Grant, established on the island of Madeira in 1814. Over the years as the business was passed down from generation to generation, Miles Madeira became one of the most respected brands on the island. Today, Miles is part of the Blandy family's Madeira Wine Company and is synonymous with excellent Madeira wine made from the Tinta Negra grape variety on the rich and diverse terroirs of this volcanic island.
