Critic Reviews
94 points, James Suckling
“This has a strikingly complex, intense nose with a rich array of cherries and berries, grapefruit and pomegranate, plenty of fruit spice, light pepper and a gently creamy, baking-spice oak thread. The palate has a very rich, intense delivery of beautifully ripe red cherries, framed in fine yet sturdy tannins. Long, fresh and energetic finish. Drink or hold.”

91 points, Robert Parker Wine Advocate
“The 2018 Estate Pinot Noir shows a slightly smoky, cured-meat edge on the nose, no doubt from a substantial portion of new French oak, alongside hints of sous bois, cherries and beets. The fruit is sweeter and purer than in the Crown Prince bottling, more concentrated and medium-bodied, with ripe, tea-like tannins and bright acids on the lingering finish.”

About The Winery
Bass Phillip, specialists of high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, was established in 1979 in the Southeastern corner of Australia. Bass Phillip is named after two men of pioneering spirit, foresight, and leadership in Australia: George Bass, an explorer of the Australian Coast, and Arthur Phillip, a British admiral who set up the first permanent European colony on the Australian continent in 1788. Founded by Phillip Jones, a Burgundy
lover who began his career in telecommunications and IT, Bass Phillip was the result of a meticulous search for the appropriate Australian region and organic techniques to develop Pinot Noir wines with depth and fine texture. Over the past 25 years, the Bass Phillip vineyards have grown to 14 hectares, much like a small Burgundy Domaine. Today, united with a singular mission to produce terroir-driven wines of purity, elegance, texture, and complexity, the winemaking and winegrowing team, led by JeanMarie Fourrier, are the stewards of Bass Phillip. Armed with passion and a combination of experience and youthful exuberance, the team crafts some of the finest expressions of Burgundian varieties in Australia.
